Grandma's Gingerbread Cookies

~Grandma's Gingerbread Cookies~

  • 8 Tbsp. (1 stick) butter or shortening 
  • 1/2 Cup sugar
  • 1/2 Cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. ginger
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp. ground cloves
  1. Mix butter, sugar, molasses, and egg.
  2. Add ingredients into wet mixture and mix well. Chill in refrigerator for two hours.
  3. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Roll out half of the dough 1/4" thick. 
  4. Cut with cookie cutter, place on greased baking sheets.
  5. Bake 8-10 minutes. Let cool.

  1. The cookies look burnt since the picture is in black and white. But they were were not burnt and tasted delicious!
