Pearl Harbor Day
December 7th, 1941
War was soon going to break out between Japan and the USA.
Japan was afraid so they thought if they attacked America’s army
base they would have a better chance.
Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto was the main man who was in charge
of planning the attack on Hawaii. He started planning the attack in January of 1941.
There was a total of 2,403 men killed, and 1,178 men wounded. All but three ships
were destroyed in the attack, USS Arizona, USS Oklahoma, and USS Utah.
The USS Arizona is still on the bottom of the ocean, right on the shore of Hawaii.
U.S. Navy veteran Donald Stratton got to watch a video of a deep sea camera going
through the USS Arizona that he was a board. Stratton said, “The phone was there on
the desk and the lightbulb was in the socket,” and “It sure brings back a lot of memories,”
After six years of war, Japan surrender. The burden was lifted and the soldiers, finally,
got to go home.

Here is the link to a video of a tour of the USS Arizona, it is really neat.

  1. Thanks for reminding us of this Madisen. So many soldiers gave their lives and so many are giving them even today, so that we can be continue to live in freedom. Soldiers of the cross are also losing their lives daily for the spiritual freedom of others. Soldiers of both realms are the real heroes.
